From Villa Carlotta’s oven, delicacies of every kind continue to emerge, of Arabic, Norman, Spanish origins, fruits of an age-old tradition. Our hotel performs this activity with meticulous passion, with the intention of forever keeping alive an art which has made Sicily famous worldwide.
To know Villa Carlotta’s Sicilian pastry means to become acquainted with endless tastes which are unfamiliar to many, ancient flavors which time has not changed. Villa Carlotta offers pastry courses to share with its guests the thousand-year-old culture of Sicilian confectionary, using only the finest ingredients carefully selected from our land. Guests can therefore experience the famous, highly esteemed almonds of the Avola area and the distinctive pistachios from Bronte, and learn the secrets of the celebrated ricotta cannoli…
Tantalizing Stops Organized by Villa Carlotta
For people in love with sweets, Villa Carlotta, upon request and without additional cost, offers the outing “Tantalizing Stops.” Those who would like to have this sweet taste experience will receive a map with a list of stops at Taormina’s most renowned bakeries, and a ballot for voting for the bakery with the most beautiful windows and ones favorite sweets. Guided tastings will be offered, wherein the kitchens of the best bakeries in the center of Taormina will offer live demonstrations on how certain delicacies are made: ricotta cream turnovers, Sicilian cannoli, honey-nut nougat, and traditional marzipan. During the outing, it will be possible to taste and purchase products to match with the sweets, including sweet wines such as muscats, “meditation” wines and other dessert wines, syrups, liqueurs, distillates, and grappas: a true triumph of flavors and aromas. And to close beautifully, every morning, after having prepared a wonderful breakfast, our staff will guide you to our own kitchen to admire the pastry of the house while preparing the delicacies that have made us famous.
